Diy Wind Turbine Generator How To Start Your Own

MATERIALS YOU WILL NEED TO START BUILDING A WIND TURBINE GENERATOR
Let's build it together

Wind turbine is becoming very popular these days, everyone wants to get their hands dirty. Buy it or build one either way it's your choice, you will save a lot on your electricity bills anyway. Using a wind turbine to power your home not only gives you an advantage over others who don't have one but you are also helping to reduce global warming.

Global Warming is on a high along with high electricity bills these are few of the main reasons why people searching for green energy solutions.

Think about it what if natural or manmade disaster should struct and knocked out the utility power line in your area , how long could you and your family and friends live without electricity? Especially in the winter when it is really cold. Are you ready to face reality?
If you are thinking of living off grid then you will need some sought of electricity to live comfortably.

The thing is you can still be on grid but used your wind turbine as a backup generator or use them both to help lower your electricity bills.

To all the do it yourselfers, survivors out there who want to be self dependable who are willing to give it a try and start this project of building your own DIY axial flux wind powered generator on a cheap budget using mainly old car parts, magnets, enamel copper wire etc..

You will find some of these material at any garage or some junkyard, these usually don't cost anything am sure you’ll get them for free.

But before you start the construction of a wind turbine the best thing to do is gather all the main materials you can so the process will be smooth and less frustrating.

Now let's go on the hunt for two car brake disks, a car hub and a front strut.
Here are the materials you’ll need to start your wind turbine project.

  • 2 12”, 11” Or 10” Car Brake disk
  • 1 Car Hub
  • 1 Front Strut
  • Spool Of Enamel magnet Wire
  • 24 Neodymium Magnets
  • 1 gallon Fiberglass resin or polyester

The two car brake disk is what your magnets will be glued onto.
Make sure the two brake disk are the same size, they must be able to fit in the hub.

A Car hub , this is what the brake disk will be bolted on so the disk can rotate.
The Strut is used to mount the magnet rotor which are the two brake disk,

NEODYMIUM MAGNETS a rare earth magnet which is the strongest in the world, these you will have to buy these, it's a bit pricey but you have no choice 2"×1' x 1/2 should be ok for a 12 volt or 24 volt generator, these magnet will create a strong magnetic field when they rotate close to the stator that produces electricity. You can find these magnets online.
ENAMEL MAGNET WIRE
In order for the wind turbine to produce current we must use magnet copper wire, this we use to make coils for the stator. You can find copper wire in old tv's, microwaves transformers, washing machines, old fan, transformers from other appliances , please be advised that all coils wire should be the same size. you can also purchase magnet copper wire on the internet.

Some basic hand tools like jigsaw, drill, spanner, rinch etc.

STATOR
Plyboard, fiberglass tape, Polyester resin and hardener to mix and pour over the coils to finish the stator You also need to pour polyester resin over the rotor to hold the magnets in place it also help to protect the magnets from rust and bad weather.
COIL WINDER
You will also need a jig otherwise called coil winder to make the coils for the stator, this you can easily built yourself using small pieces of plyboard nuts, screws and bolts.

Propeller or prop as some people called it you can always build these from wood or thick pvc pipe.

Tail to direct the wind to and from your turbine, this is very easy to make using plyboard,  galvanised zink sheeting and steel pipe, preferably stainless pipe.

A bridge rectifier to change the AC current to DC current so your batteries can be charged.
You can purchase at any electronic shop or online.

A TOWER To mount your new wind turbine, You can use iron or galvanized pipe to make your tower depending on the weight of your machine if you don't understand how to install
the tower seek help, do a bit duedelligence for your own safety.

MISCELLANEOUS things like a protractor for correct measurement, top and die set to thread holes that you drill, nuts and bolts, electrical tape, a tape measure, fiberglass tape,  spray paint to make your turbine looks good you know what i mean.

Base up on my research this is all you will need for now to start building your wind turbine, maybe i missed out few things you are welcome to point it out to me i will definitely add it on here. We can all build together. Thank you guys for stopping by please leave a positive comment.

PLEASE BE ADVISED THAT I AM NOT A WIND TURBINE EXPERT NEITHER HAVE I EVER BUILT ONE, THE ABOVE ARTICLE IS SOLELY BASED ON MY RESEARCH. BUT IT IS MY INTENTION TO START THIS PROJECT WITH THE HELP FROM OTHER LIKE MINDED FOLKS WHO ARE INTERESTED IN GREEN ENERGY AND TO HELP PROTECT THE EARTH FROM GLOBAL WARMING.
